A Message to My Past Connections

To those who once walked beside me,

I understand that the path I’ve chosen may be difficult to comprehend. It’s a journey I embraced with deep reflection, not to cause pain, but to seek healing and authenticity. My decision was never made lightly.

Each of you holds a unique place in my story. You’ve shaped parts of who I am today, and those memories remain cherished:

  • One showed me that true friendship can endure.
  • One reminded me that sisterhood is a bond beyond words.
  • One encouraged me to embrace my quirks and stay authentic.
  • One helped me feel less alone in the experience of fractured homes.
  • One inspired me to pursue creativity and follow my dreams.
  • One taught me the value of trust and connection with family.
  • One affirmed that being myself is not only okay; it’s powerful.

Over time, I’ve wanted to reach out in quiet ways, not to change your beliefs or challenge your path, but to reconnect with the parts of myself that were shaped by our shared experiences.
We spent over a decade together, building bonds we once believed were unbreakable. Life, however, has a way of testing those promises.

I’m grateful for the love and lessons you gave me during those years. At 16, I began to feel a disconnect, trying to fit into a mould that wasn’t mine. That struggle led me to the journey I’m on now of healing, growth, and purpose.

Some of you maintained contact in your own ways, and some chose distance when circumstances changed. I hold no resentment. We were all navigating complex emotions at a young age.

If you come across my presence either online or in person. I only ask that you see me not as a stranger, but as someone you once knew deeply. My hope is that, in time, society and its laws will evolve to better protect all of us, allowing space for belief systems without the need to grieve those who choose a different path.

With respect and love,
Lauren
