Brain Cheat Codes & Healing Loops: How I’m Learning to Rewire Old Beliefs
Hey Tribe,
One thing I’ve noticed since starting Breaking Chains Tribe is how old wounds — ones I thought I’d already dealt with — love to resurface. I call them the “hopes and dreams of my younger self.” They show up as little whispers in my mind, telling me I shouldn’t be speaking up. That this isn’t what “we” do. That I’m just chasing five minutes of fame. That I’m turning into their version of a vengeful backslider.
But I’ve learned to sit with those thoughts. To feel the emotions, they bring. Because deep down, I know they’re just echoes of old conditioning — not truth.
When I used to have panic attacks, one thought would loop endlessly: “I just want my mum.” It was like being stuck in a mental spin cycle I couldn’t escape. I used to try and talk through it, but that only made it worse. Now, I’ve found a simple tool that helps I message a couple of close friends and say, “Distract me.” That’s it. Two words. And suddenly, I’m hearing about their day in every boring detail — and my brain gets pulled out of the loop before it can spiral.
It’s not perfect. But it’s progress.
I’ve learned that while my younger self still longs for comfort, it’s now my job to give that to her. To be the safe space she never had. One day, I might not need others to help me through those moments — but for now, this works. And that’s enough.
Triggers don’t always disappear. But they can be softened. Faced. Worked through. Not buried.
I spent too long thriving in chaos. Now, I want to thrive in peace.
💡 Morning Tip: Find Your Brain Cheat Code
This week, try noticing your thoughts. Not judging them — just observing. Ask yourself:
How can I help my brain work for me, not against me?
Sometimes healing is just one small shift at a time.
